VOGUISH BEAUTY BAR MAKES STRIDES IN BEAUTY & MAKE-UP INDUSTRY
Kagiso Mokgware, a makeup artist and founder of Voguish hair & beauty bar established in 2018, told Vibe that when she started out, she wanted to do something classy and unique.
And the name is quite different and classy sounding. She explained that Voguish means “popular or in fashion at a particular time and synonyms for voguish are exclusive, classy, trendy and elegant.”
She said Voguish is full service beauty bar dedicated to consistently providing high customer satisfaction by rendering excellent service, quality products and furnishing an enjoyable atmosphere at an acceptable price/ value relationship.
“We also strive to maintain a friendly, fair and creative work environment which respect diversity, ideas and hard work,” she said. Mokgware explained that she has always loved everything to do with art and beauty. She started off offering free massages then hairstyling and selling hair.
“Later on I started playing around with makeup on myself and my friends. I then realised how much fun it was, and saw how it boosted one’s confidence and personal style. So basically, I developed a hobby into a career.” The beauty and make-up market is saturated but Voguish stands out.
“Our biggest strength as a brand is our ability to work with all types of clients and provide top-notch customer satisfaction/service. We are always willing to try new techniques when working with someone who has special needs or wants something different. Clients walk-in and expect their makeup artist to be friendly, personable, professional & someone they can trust with their appearance and our brand is all about delivering exactly that to our client,” she said. Mokgware has many memorable moments with clients but one that stands out is of one lady who came to do her birthday makeup and was so pleased with the look.
“She left but after about 45 minutes she came back with her husband demanding to see who did her wife’s makeup he said to me: “Thank you and no one is ever going to touch my wife’s face again so I am paying in advance for three more makeup sessions for my wife.”

The lady has since become my most loyal client and No1 fan!” Mokgware offered a few tips to maintain a healthy beauty routine. “Since it’s summer, water and sunscreen are your best anti-aging products. Keep hydrated by drinking a lot of water and protect your skin from harsh direct sunlight; always apply sunscreen if you are going to be exposed to the sun.”
She said one should consider getting the skin examined so that you can by products that are best suitable for your correct skin type She also said that whether you have oily, dry or normal skin you have to moisturise the skin. She emphasised that its important to sterilise your makeup brushes because dirty brushes can cause a fungal infection which leads to a break out of pimples.
Lastly, Mokgware suggested exfoliating your lips before applying lipstick as it buffs dry skin, and you will get a smooth, soft canvas for you to apply the lipstick.
