- IRENE SHONE

Diretse Mud Race challenge fun fitness event is finally back with a bang! Founder and director of the event,Tebogo Kgaodi recently told Vibe that the initiative returns bigger and better than before.

He also promised that the activity is now here to stay and serve the purpose for those who embrace it.The exceptional fun and fitness event is expected to be held as a two-day strength activity at Bonnington Monument on November 19th and 20th.

Diretse mud fun is all about fun, fitness and also aims at promoting good health and team building within the fitness space, corporate world as well as social clubs. It actually started in 2015 as an initiative of the local tourism company dubbed Itse Mageba Sightseeing Tours.”We started this sport as a way of encouraging fitness and also a form of giving back to the community,” he said. Kgaodi noted that the event has been suspended because of few challenges including sponsorships and permanent land where they can set up the obstacles for the next coming events. “This year, people should expect more fire from the competition as well as serious battles from the teams and individuals. Aerobics will also be part of this funfitness day,” he said. Kgaodi also noted that they have this year, also partnered with Gaborone City Council (GCC) . “Unlike in the previous event, there would be an entrance fee this time around and part of the funds would be donated to GCC through Mayor’s office to donate or pass it to the Social and Community Development S&CD to buy Christmas clothes for the needy children. People have been waiting for their unique and only event that leaves one with mud dirt, while having fun too,” he said. Kgaodi is happy about the positive response that they are getting so far. “This year children under 12 would also have fun for free, as we try to make this a family oriented type of event too. The Prize money has also improved and the participants would be treated to an after party session, just after the mud challenge. on the same day.”
