hand as some may face bullying at schools because of their leadership position,” Makombo explained explained.

She told The Midweek Sun that the aim was to help them improve their leadership skills and help them balance between being leaders of their peers at school and being students, as well as being children at home.

“Children tend to deal with a lot especially at junior school level, as a lot is happening at this stage.”

There is a lot of peer pressure at this stage as they try to find themselves and fit in.

“Some start dating at that stage and we have also heard stories of students committing suicide for unknown reasons, and only to find out that the child was being bullied by others or there were some major changes they discover about their lives and afraid to face it.” she said.

Motivational speaker and author, Belinda Mabote encouraged students to develop a positive mindset and focus on their school work.

“Students should learn to take responsibility of their own lives if they want to succeed in life because success is not a coincidence. They should get hobbies and develop their talents so that they can be more creative, live a fun filled life and have schedules that keep them busy and away from bad activities,” Mabote said.
