ANGELS OFF TO BUMPY START

...Francistown rookies confident of survival

The Botswana Football League (BFL) new comers, Eleven Angels, who put a stunning campaign in the National First Division last season, are anticipating a very competitive top flight football.

Despite their loss to Morupule Wanderers by a solitary goal, the team still believes that they are on the right path and can turn around their fortunes when they play Extension Gunners over the weekend. Sun Sports caught up with Team Manager, Onalenna Sebetlela this week and he had this to say: “The team started well, we consider ourselves to be in the right path; we faced Morupule wonderers which is more experienced than us, those who were present to witness how our boys applied themselves would agree with me, we stood our ground and dominated most aspects of the game.”

Moreover, he said they created ample chances but couldn’t convert them. He noted that they need to continue with their play and improve here and there so that they are equal to the task. “Their goalkeeper was busier of the two. We look to continue playing the way we do and start to collect points.”

Sebetlela said the prolonged preseason had an impact on all the teams in the league and no one will benefit more. The long pre-season affected all teams, if you look closely into match attendance, even for bigger teams, the numbers weren’t that pleasing.”

He said people have lost that attachment and love for local football and most are disgruntled by how things are always unfolding in the local league. “We in particular are used to facing difficult circumstances, we will soldier on through these challenges.”

Moreover, he said the season might come tough but their main target is to settle in the premier league and represent Francistown people very well. “Rest assured, the team will not disappoint,” he said.

Going in to the next game which they will play away to Extension Gunners, Sebetlela said the mood in the camp is good. “We encourage everyone in the South to go to Lobatse to witness as our boys collect their first 3 points in the premier league on Saturday night, it is a date.”
