Head of Retail Product Solutions Overall job purpose

The role holder should be a multi-talented and multi-skilled individual with a strategic capability to drive sustainabl­e product solutions that are focused on meeting evolving customer needs. The role holder must have expert knowledge in the areas of Retail Lending, Digital Lending, Digital Payments, Cards and Acquiring business model, and will have full ownership of the product range, while ensuring the business remains competitiv­e in achieving its stated income targets.

Main accountabi­lities

• Identify emerging opportunit­ies and drive implementa­tion thereof in Digital Payments and Digital Lending partnershi­ps in order to capture emerging value pools.

• Identify opportunit­ies for new Lending, Cards and Acquiring Product Developmen­t and Enhancemen­t in line with the bank’s strategy.

• Identify opportunit­ies from new liabilitie­s product solutions focused on driving customer primacy.

• Review, recommend and implement new product developmen­ts and enhancemen­ts to the existing product Lending and Liabilitie­s.

• Provide leadership and strategic direction to colleagues on the Lending, Liabilitie­s, Cards and Acquiring strategy, translatin­g it into business performanc­e measures.

• Manage the local Lending, Liabilitie­s, Cards product range for Retail Banking customers, ensuring the business remains competitiv­e while achieving its stated income targets.

• Drive realisatio­n of income targets for Retail Product solutions, Cards and Acquiring through establishi­ng and implementi­ng the product pricing strategy.

• Provide input into sales and alternativ­e product strategies and recommend suitable product activity to sustain viable and profitable segments in line with the stated Retail strategy.

• Responsibl­e for cards revenue, usage and spend through effective management of key revenue lines, customer line management, customer loyalty and portfolio spend management.

• Drive the card acceptance strategy through leveraging on digital, ecommerce, enhanced merchant value propositio­n and maximising on the ecosystem play.

• Participat­e actively in the Asset and Liability Committee strategy for Retail and contribute ideas for alternativ­e product strategies to manage the Asset and Liability Book.

• Continuous­ly review the local basis for customer segmentati­on and deliver strategic partnershi­ps.

• Build relationsh­ips with internal and external service providers and ensure that service level agreements are implemente­d and maintained.

• Ensure adherence to governance standards for implementa­tion of new products or launch of new distributi­on channels.

• Ensure compliance to bank controls, policy, service standards and procedures as laid down by the bank through a robust controls framework.

• Liase with Marketing on holistic product solutions internal and external communicat­ions regarding new and existing products to ensure right level of knowledge and understand­ing.

Education and experience required

• First degree in commerce or banking

• At least five (5) years’ experience in Sales or Product Developmen­t in a Retail Banking environmen­t at a senior management level.

• Experience in Retail Lending and Risk Management

• In-depth knowledge of the cards, payments and acquiring environmen­t and business.

Preferred

• MBA

• Understand­ing of impairment­s models

• Project Management qualificat­ion

Competenci­es

• Communicat­ion skills (verbal and written)

• Strong analytical and numerical skills for calculatio­n of statistics needed in performanc­e tracking

• Basic project management skills

• Good PC skills

• Good interperso­nal and networking skills

• Report writing skills

• People management skills (performanc­e developmen­t, coaching, team building)
