Head of Retail Product Solutions Overall job purpose
The role holder should be a multi-talented and multi-skilled individual with a strategic capability to drive sustainable product solutions that are focused on meeting evolving customer needs. The role holder must have expert knowledge in the areas of Retail Lending, Digital Lending, Digital Payments, Cards and Acquiring business model, and will have full ownership of the product range, while ensuring the business remains competitive in achieving its stated income targets.
Main accountabilities
• Identify emerging opportunities and drive implementation thereof in Digital Payments and Digital Lending partnerships in order to capture emerging value pools.
• Identify opportunities for new Lending, Cards and Acquiring Product Development and Enhancement in line with the bank’s strategy.
• Identify opportunities from new liabilities product solutions focused on driving customer primacy.
• Review, recommend and implement new product developments and enhancements to the existing product Lending and Liabilities.
• Provide leadership and strategic direction to colleagues on the Lending, Liabilities, Cards and Acquiring strategy, translating it into business performance measures.
• Manage the local Lending, Liabilities, Cards product range for Retail Banking customers, ensuring the business remains competitive while achieving its stated income targets.
• Drive realisation of income targets for Retail Product solutions, Cards and Acquiring through establishing and implementing the product pricing strategy.
• Provide input into sales and alternative product strategies and recommend suitable product activity to sustain viable and profitable segments in line with the stated Retail strategy.
• Responsible for cards revenue, usage and spend through effective management of key revenue lines, customer line management, customer loyalty and portfolio spend management.
• Drive the card acceptance strategy through leveraging on digital, ecommerce, enhanced merchant value proposition and maximising on the ecosystem play.
• Participate actively in the Asset and Liability Committee strategy for Retail and contribute ideas for alternative product strategies to manage the Asset and Liability Book.
• Continuously review the local basis for customer segmentation and deliver strategic partnerships.
• Build relationships with internal and external service providers and ensure that service level agreements are implemented and maintained.
• Ensure adherence to governance standards for implementation of new products or launch of new distribution channels.
• Ensure compliance to bank controls, policy, service standards and procedures as laid down by the bank through a robust controls framework.
• Liase with Marketing on holistic product solutions internal and external communications regarding new and existing products to ensure right level of knowledge and understanding.
Education and experience required
• First degree in commerce or banking
• At least five (5) years’ experience in Sales or Product Development in a Retail Banking environment at a senior management level.
• Experience in Retail Lending and Risk Management
• In-depth knowledge of the cards, payments and acquiring environment and business.
Preferred
• MBA
• Understanding of impairments models
• Project Management qualification

• Strong analytical and numerical skills for calculation of statistics needed in performance tracking
• Basic project management skills
• Good PC skills
• Good interpersonal and networking skills
• Report writing skills
• People management skills (performance development, coaching, team building)
