Jnr Mesho Photography sets the trend in Maun

- IRENE SHONE

Jnr Mesho Photography views photography as a lifestyle way of presenting a scene behind the lens.

The Maun based photographer Khumo Mesho, better known as Jnr Mesho (The People’s photographer) is relatively new in photography, but his work speaks volumes for him, as he believes in quality work and satisfying his clients. He is a firm believer that, photography is fun and an interesting lifestyle, because it visualises all the memories, through pictures and videos.

It was established photographers in his township, including Dollar Classic Shoots, ManluuVisuals, Rich Photography and Wildlife photography, who inspired the creative photographer in him. “I started photography in December 2018. I bought myself a second hand camera (Canon Rebel) from one of the photographers I had been following on social media, Wildlee Photography and I immediately joined street photographers at the Maun mall.

Later in 2021 after lockdown, it was difficult to get as much clients as before, but his previous work marketed him enough that he eventually started getting some bookings. “Few months later, I started getting myself some equipment and decided to abandon street photography to attend bookings only,” he said.

Mesho said that he has never been to a photography school but just bought a camera and got basic lessons from wildlee photography, and some of the local photographers who were willing to exchange their knowledge of photography.

“I have always believed in the saying that,’ a customer is always right’. I listen to my clients, and this is what has helped master my art of photography,” he said.

He said that his dream is to become a professional photographer and own massive equipment of good quality. “I also wish to establish an institution where young people or upcoming photographers who are passionate about photography will come and sharpen their skills and learn more about photography and videography,” he said.

Mesho said his proudest moments ever behind the lens include, shooting a music video for upcoming artist, Manluu. “It was challenging due to lack of equipment but by the grace of God, I got support from local businesses to shoot and complete the project.”
