Dintek Lab showcases at Global Expo
Seven years ago, the first laboratory glass manufacturing company in Botswana was launched. Dintek lab is a local company that makes scientific laboratory equipment which are used in science laboratories of schools, research centers, mines and universities.
Spokesperson of the company, William Dindiwe explained that their raw material is borosilicate 2.3 which is resistant to corrosive chemicals and can be used in relatively high temperatures without breaking. “The advantages of using Dintek products is quality.”
Dindiwe said that they do not temper with the standard of work they provide their clients. He is confident that the level of quality they produce ensures that those who use the scientific equipment they make will get accurate readings which aren’t distorted because of the standard. Dintek said that all people who buy their products will get value for their money as they have put a lot of work over the years to produce international standard scientific equipment.
Dindiwe explained that scientific glass blowing is both an art and scarce skill. He notes that very few people in Botswana can do so. He explains that the most important thing in their line of work is getting the specifications right. This way they can design and make an apparatus to a client’s specifications. He explains that when they started the company, they had to do a lot of skill transfer onto the local market. Tawana Madziba explained that they hope that in the foreseeable future they will have a better working relationship with the Ministry of Education supplying test tubes, burets and pipets.
