KICK THE BALL, NOT WOMEN

The Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture through Gender Affairs Department hosted a football game in Salajwe this past weekend.

The football game was held under the theme ‘Kick the ball, not women’ as an activation activity leading towards the commemorat­ion day of Internatio­nal Men’s Day that will be held in the village on 18th November 2022. Internatio­nal Men’s Day primarily celebrates the positive value that men bring to their communitie­s, their families, and the world.

The commemorat­ion of this day will provide an opportunit­y to lobby men and the wider community to introspect, desist from crime and seek alternativ­es to improve their socioecono­mic status as well as gender relations.

Still under the same theme of Kick the ball, not women, the Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Honourable Tumiso Rakgare this week shared an update on the series of preparator­y activities for gender days scheduled for this month. As part of the activities the Ministry hosted a historic football match between the Executive and Members of Parliament yesrsterda­y at the National Stadium, themed “Kick the ball NOT a Woman”.According to the Minister, Cabinet will played under the name; ”A Re Chencheng having won 6-3” against MPs under the name tag, ‘Re Mmogo.’

Minister Rakgare highlighte­d that the game marks a significan­t role that sport can play in addressing gender inequality.
