KICK THE BALL, NOT WOMEN
The Ministry of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture through Gender Affairs Department hosted a football game in Salajwe this past weekend.
The football game was held under the theme ‘Kick the ball, not women’ as an activation activity leading towards the commemoration day of International Men’s Day that will be held in the village on 18th November 2022. International Men’s Day primarily celebrates the positive value that men bring to their communities, their families, and the world.
The commemoration of this day will provide an opportunity to lobby men and the wider community to introspect, desist from crime and seek alternatives to improve their socioeconomic status as well as gender relations.
Still under the same theme of Kick the ball, not women, the Minister of Youth, Gender, Sport and Culture Honourable Tumiso Rakgare this week shared an update on the series of preparatory activities for gender days scheduled for this month. As part of the activities the Ministry hosted a historic football match between the Executive and Members of Parliament yesrsterday at the National Stadium, themed “Kick the ball NOT a Woman”.According to the Minister, Cabinet will played under the name; ”A Re Chencheng having won 6-3” against MPs under the name tag, ‘Re Mmogo.’
Minister Rakgare highlighted that the game marks a significant role that sport can play in addressing gender inequality.
