Sweet Serenity caters for foodies with a sweet tooth

- BY IRENE SHONE

Sweet Serenity finds the baking industry to be complex and fun as well as useful for daily consumption. When the owner of Sweet Serenity, Keaipopa Bodio started operating in 2020, she imagined a satisfactory small dough world, where she could offer freshly baked stuff. Bodio offers a variety of baked treats, brownies, rolls, biscuits, scones, loaves, and mostly cakes, cupcakes.

She wanted to be unique and therefore instantly went to learn some baking skills in South Africa. “The baking industry is complex, interesting and challenging at the same time. This is why I had to go to South Africa to sharpen and enhance my baking skills to produce better quality products in a stylish manner,” she said. She further noted that,“it is satisfying to see how the industry is impressively advancing in Botswana, and with the regulation of importation of bread and pastries into the country, it is an advantage for us bakers to penetrate big markets in the country.”

Bodio boasts that her sweet treats are made with love and definitely fulfills those with a sweet tooth because her passion for cooking gives her the confidence to deliver at her utmost comfort. She said that she looks forward to opening a baking academy in the future.“I have had a lot of inquiries from people who want to learn how to make cakes, and so my dream is to continue sharpening my skills and gain more confidence to open a baking academy both for kids and adults,” she said.

Bodio is currently based in Gaborone North and says receiving orders from outside Gaborone impresses her more, and so time would tell when she would expand and set up in other parts of the country. “My target audience include people who need cakes for birthdays, weddings or any other celebrations from anywhere. We also customise our products based on their themes,” she said.

She said that she wishes that there were some

baking associations and or clubs where bakers of all kinds can meet now and then. “With baking, you learn everyday and need one another to share ideas, so this could help our baking industry go a long way,” she said.
