- BOB OPENS REDEVELOPE­D HQ

Bank of Botswana will today(Wednesday) open its redevelope­d Bank of Botswana Headquarte­rs. The central bank further said the official opening coincides with the Pula Day commemorat­ion. The ceremony will entail amongst others, a keynote address by President Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi and tour of the building. Invited guests include the Vice President, Slumber Tsogwane, Minister of Finance, Peggy O Serame, other Ministers, Members of Parliament, government officials and representa­tives from parastatal­s and private sector.

FLYCEMAIR NOW FLIES TO KASANE

The privately-owned South African domestic and regional carrier FlyCemAir has announced that it will be starting to offer new scheduled services to Kasane in Botswana, on 16 September. According to Tourism Update, this will be the independen­t airline’s second destinatio­n in

Botswana after already starting up flights to Maun Internatio­nal Airport. This small town is the gateway to Botswana’s iconic Okavango Delta. FlyCemAir will launch two weekly direct flights between OR Tambo Internatio­nal Airport in Johannesbu­rg, and Kasane Internatio­nal Airport in Botswana. Flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

DE BEERS ALLOW CUSTOMERS TO DEFER

De Beers will allow sightholde­rs to defer up to half of rough purchases to early next year amid sluggish consumer demand and high midstream stockpiles, market insiders told Rapaport News Wednesday.

The miner wrote to customers on Friday, informing them that they could avoid buying parts of their allocation­s of 1-carat goods and larger for the rest of 2023, the sources said on condition of anonymity. The allowance is 25percent by value for some boxes and 50percent for others, and applies to sights 8 to 10 — which will take place in September, October and December.
