VOTER BUYING HAS BEGUN ACROSS THE COUNTRY
Minister and MP Mabuse Pule of the Kgatleng enclave has been trending lately, thanks to a video of him being shared widely on social media in which he advises people whose votes are being bought to take the buyer’s money, chow it and vote for whoever they wish to. Pule says the buyer will still not know how the voter decided, given the fact that votes are cast in the privacy of a polling booth.
His words however sparked a debate and conversation on the emerging trend of potential parliamentary and council candidates for next year’s elections suddenly becoming generous in their communities. Those in Mochudi talk of a man going around splashing money and calling himself a man of the people. Gatwe he started last year, kante he knew what he was up to.
They say he wants to become the next MP. In Molepolole too, they talk of one council aspirant going around buying essentials for families. Gatwe a re he is a man of God who knows the importance of sharing wealth. In Mmadinare they also talk of another also looking to be an MP and suddenly donating services of his company. In Ramotswa gatwe there is another who goes around providing people with water and he too calling himself a loving person who does not want to see Balete ba bolawa ke lenyora. MP Mabuse Pule must be responding to someone who is giving out money in his constituency too. But his message is that hey, when they feel this generous, just take what they offer but don’t feel obliged to vote for them. Such people are dishonest at heart and take voters for granted.
