Sekgwama drops debut Sione single

-

Upcoming Sione Gospel musician, Goitsemodimo Sekgwama promises nothing but a positive impact from his debut offering this year.

He recently dropped his debut single under Sione Gospel dubbed ‘Leleme La Hao’. He told Vibe that he has lived his life to embrace Sione Gospel music and the late South African musician, Oleseng Shuping has always been his motivation, besides the fact that he is a member of the Zion Christian Church (ZCC). “I was born and raised under a family that follows ZCC St Engenas and my late mother was also a good singer. I used to go to church with her growing up and I was always looking forward to listening to her leading songs in the church service. Sometimes, I would cry myself out listening to her singing hyms,” he said.

He describes this song as a meaningful offering meant to advice people to be careful of what they say at all times. “Like the name of this song suggests, ‘Leleme La Hao’ track literally translates to the power of one’s tongue and it simply reminds people to be careful with the way they speak.

Very often, people find themselves hurling painful words to one another, whether at home, church and even in the workplace,” he said. When he wrote this song, he was going through a rough time. “I was going through a difficult phase of life when wrote this song I was depressed and I was lost in faith to a point where I got angry at God. I even had to take break from work for the whole month last year since I wasn’t well mentally and physically,” Shortly after that, Sekgwama then left Palapye, where he stayed to reside with his young brother in Gaborone. The song was produced by Thabo Tshetlhaña of HarpNote studio, and it is currently available on all online platforms. Sekgwama told Vibe that he is excited about releasing his ever first song and humbled by the positive feedback he receives. “I am so proud of myself because this is my very first song and people like it so far,” Sekgwama said, further sharing that he is receiving the love not only from Botswana, but in South Africa and Swaziland as well.

“They are even demanding an album already and seeing people from South Africa and Swaziland, making TikTok video challenges of my brand new song humbles me,” said Sekgwama. He couldn’t go without reiterating that Oleseng inspired the artiste in him. He is also motivated by other South African and Botswana artistes including; Segomotso Shuping, Oleseng’s son, The lionheart Ramotshela, Gaone Mampane and Thabo Tshetlhaña. He plans on dropping the music video before Easter this year.
