hired to secure sponsorships for the league, but was not successful in doing so. Zakhem also claimed that Mbatha made some agreements without the board’s knowledge or approval like the 3 year partnership of the company that does perimeter boards. “I reached out to Mbatha to inform him that his contract was going to expire soon. He didn’t respond, and if he had responded and expressed interest in staying on, we could have extended his contract by mutual agreement for six months. He never did this, so we haven’t renewed his contract. Now, we are working with the BFA to find someone who can temporarily fill the CEO position until we find a permanent candidate,” Zakhem said.

He mentioned that there are only four members currently on the Botswana Football League board, and things have been chaotic recently.

“From my perspective, the Botswana football board is functioning well, and we’re able to run games and keep things running smoothly. Of course, there are challenges as with any organization, and some individuals may be trying to cause disruptions. However, we’re confident that we can continue to manage the league even without a permanent CEO. We’re just waiting for the right person to fill the position,” Zakhem mentioned.

Furthermore, Zakhem assured the public that the league will continue to operate as usual until the end of the season. He acknowledged that they can’t control all the disruptions, but they will focus on ensuring that games are played and the season finishes successfully.
