- BY IRENE SHONE

Rock musician, guitarist, songwriter and producer Starks Daemon recently dropped a song titled ‘Unchain’.

He is a solo artiste and also frontman of a legendary African metal music band called Wrust. He has been in the rock/ metal music industry for over 23 years now. “My style of music is bridge between hard rock and metal music which means I compose heavy songs with slight aggressive vocals and melodic songs with extremely melodic vocals. Xometimes I mix both aggressive vocals with melodic vocals just to create dynamics on the song,” he shared.

His brand new song is ‘unchain’, starts off with a sweet clean melodic guitars and melodic vocals, followed by an aggressive verse, a melodic pre chorus and and aggressive chorus. He shared with Vibe that ‘unchain’ comes as a call to the people of the world, and not just Batswana or Africans.“This song calls out to everyone in the world to unchain their minds and think differently, learn to question the status quo, be it religion, politics, or science. I have come to realise through research and reading that a lot just don’t add up,” he said. He added that he prefers listeners to find something that resonates with their hearts, soul and mind, while listening to the song.

Unchain is an EP comprising of two songs; 'Unchain' and a re-recording of ‘Too deep’. It was released online early this month and will be taken to the radio stations this week.

“Plans are already in motion for the music video for both songs on the EP. The plan is to use these EP to promote the Starks Daemon brand in Botswana,

Africa and the rest of the world,” Starla Daemon said, indicating that ‘Unchain’ has already hit the number one spot on the African metal charts. Whilst Promotional shows in Botswana and South Africa have been planned, there is also ongoing talks about a UK tour possibly towards the end of the year. Starks Darmob is also working on a full length album to be released in September 2024.
