Kgosipula excels with Matebele FC

- BY NALEDI LEMOGANG

Karamelo Kgosipula, a young rising goalkeeper from Matebele FC, is having the season of his life. After joining the team in January on a 6 months loan from Township Rollers FC, he has become the first-choice goalkeeper and has been making headlines for his brilliant saves and performances. Over the weekend he put on a fantastic display of goalkeeping against his former team, Township Rollers FC, helping Matebele FC secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw in Gaborone.

The 21-year-old Goalkeeper is the younger brother of the sensational Township Rollers former goalkeeper, Keoagile Kgosipula, Karamelo is enjoying his time in the spotlight and is determined to make the most of his loan spell. With a few months left on his loan, he is hoping to prove himself, and is grateful for the opportunity to get game time at Matebele FC.

During the match between Matebele FC and Township Rollers, Kgosipula was in top form, making several key saves to deny the opposition a goal. In the second half, when Popa Popa were determined to score, Kgosipula was a wall in front of goal, commanding his defense and showing excellent composure under pressure. Even when faced with free kicks from Rollers’ best free kick taker, Tsotso Ngele, he was unfazed. Despite his efforts he conceded one goal in the match , a header from Mosha Gaolaolwe, and continued to keep his composure and made even more important saves to keep the score at 1-1.

When reflecting on his performance on Sunday, he said that he was happy that he managed to stay composed and focused despite the added pressure of playing against his team. He mentioned that he had put out his best performance, and was happy to have been able to perform well despite the added emotional weight of facing off against Township Rollers, a team he had been a part of only three months prior. He felt that he had done himself and his current team justice, despite the challenges.

“My time at Matebele FC has been really positive. I came in on loan at the start of the year, and it’s been really good for me to get regular game time. Today, I was worried that I might not be able to focus properly on the game because of my connection to my other club, but I’m happy to say that I delivered a great performance. I feel like I’m improving with every game, and I’m going to keep getting better and better, “Kgosipula said. “As a goalkeeper, I know that positioning myself correctly is key. I communicate well with my defense so that we can work together to reduce the chances of the opposition scoring. I make sure to dive when necessary, but I also know that good positioning and knowing when to move to the ball is important. I make mistakes sometimes, but I learn from them and use them to improve my game. My goal is to be the best goalkeeper I can be,” He added.

According to Nicholas Woody Jacobs, head coach of Matebele FC, Kgosipula is an excellent goalkeeper. He said that Kgosipula has the ability to read the game well and he has complete faith in his abilities. He also noted that the goalkeeper’s loan is set to expire at the end of the season, and he would love if he stays with the clubs as he is a great goal keeper.

“There are areas of Kgosipula’s game that need improvement, but overall, he has been an outstanding addition to our team. Since joining us in January, he has shown great improvement in every game, and he is the kind of player that a team would want to keep for a long time. He has so much potential, and I think he will go far in his career, “Woody Jacobs added.
