RDC’s Tlokweng Retirement Project Suspended

Property developers, RDC Properties has put the developmen­t of the Tlokweng Retirement home on hold as market conditions are not conducive for marketing the product at the moment. The Botswana Stock Exchange listed company had secured a plot in Tlokweng to build retirement houses. The gated estate consist of 12 semi detached houses of one, two bed and three bed roomed , as well as 44 general living apartments of one and two bed roomed and 11 assisted living apartments . There will also be a private frail care and subacute facilities (34 beds) to meet onsite medical needs of residents. Commenting on their annual report for 2020, group managing director, Giachetti Guido said lessons learnt from existing facilities in South Africa and across the world will be considered and a plan will be put in place to protect residents, workers and visitors from the spread of COVID-19 and any other future pandemics. The group has identified possible contractor­s through the independen­t tendering process conducted by external consultant­s. He said they are also in the process of securing extension of the building and planning approvals granted by the city council following challenges posed by the recent pandemic which is “beyond our control”.
