Go monate Kwa Ga Modipe!

-

If you are looking for a vibe ya pesonyana and good times, mme e se your usual camp chair and cooler box affair, as well as looking to escape the city buzz just to have a bit of seclusion, then a short drive to Oodi will do you good. Kwa Ga Modipe, affectionately coined by its patrons “At the Red Cushions” is open strictly Fridays to Sundays. One might wonder what the brouhaha about the cushions is, and it is simply the striking, confident, bold colour the owners picked for their brand. Red. The colour of life, love, health, courage, enthusiasm and passion, which are definitely traits that you immediately are greeted by at this intimate food experience getaway. The décor is predominantly wooden outdoor furniture with red cushions and intricate throw pillows which are handmade and imported from the Middle East alongside other statement pieces. It was very important that the décor be distinctive for the establishment. When the restaurant first opened the red cushions stood out and were so synonymous with the brand and the restaurant gained the aforementioned affectionate name from the patrons.

What can you expect from them? A vibe!! Great food and a great time. They periodically bring in guest DJs’ who create a buzz, and when there is no DJ, the venue ensures that they plug into an amazing ambiance playlist. The menu is a sure bet for all meat lovers with all types of meat available on offer. Ke gore ga o batla go ja nama ya monate wa go itatswa menwana, you know where to go. The cocktail menu has alcoholic cocktails and mocktails with names curated for the venue such as Modipe Mojito and Oodi Sunset just to name a few and it is all easy on the pocket. My guest had the Oodi Sunset and a re she has found her new favourite drink.

Speaking of which, the sunset is picturesque, it is the perfect backdrop to all your memories. From group bookings to casual walk-ins, it’s only a short drive not too far out of town for a relaxed meal in a calm ambience.

Tota hela Oodi used to be walking distance from Gabs so it is literally right here. The social media admin team has made sure to share a directional map on their FB page and the road signage which is soon to be amped provides guidance to this spot. It’s not far off from the main road going down to Oodi. On arrival there is plenty parking available just outside the premises with security at all times. It’s a one minute walk to the entrance where you are welcomed by friendly energised staff, ke gore wa ikutlwa le wena gore you’re going somewhere and when you get there the place ignites your energies even more.

I enjoy a good rack of pork ribs and my taste buds were pleasantly satisfied. Ba itse go apaya dikgopo gore! I personally enjoy a rack of ribs and have visited many establishments with varying critique. They have nailed their offering of tender, well marinated, fall off the bone goodness. I would have loved a slightly bigger portion of ribs, however, this takes nothing away from the juicy, flavour packed sticky ribs. The chips came perfectly spiced, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. Our party also ordered the steak with pap and morogo as a side and this was enjoyed thoroughly with the morogo being quite the rave as well.

The garden is definitely the centre of attraction at the spot, with umbrellas to shield you from direct sunlight and its lush cool spacing, go iketlile, go mood. Worthy of mention is that the business makes sure to give back to its immediate community of Oodi, Matebeleng and surrounding areas by hiring staff from the immediate surroundings. Big taste, big experience, big hearts, Kwa Ga Modipe.
