A22-year-old suspected drug dealer of Mokgobelele ward in Letlhakane is in police custody. The young man who is facing two counts of trading with illicit substances, house breaking, and theft was arrested on Saturday morning at his family home.

Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu said the suspect was initially wanted for house breaking and theft but when searching his house police retrieved 12 sachets of marijuana and a small sachet of cocaine. “We were looking for the suspect for house breaking and theft and on arrival at his house police retrieved the suspected stolen speakers and the illicit substances. Looking at its quantity we suspect that he might be selling them hence we are investigating the matter to establish the supply,” Maphephu said.

“The suspect is likely to be arraigned before Letlhakane Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday because we are yet to take the illicit substances for further testing.” Maphephu revealed that drug use remains a concern in Letlhakane as they continue to arrest villagers in possession of illicit substances like dagga, cocaine, and methcathinone popularly known as

Kat. He pleaded with parents to always keep an eye on their children and to keep on checking their rooms.

“The suspect stays in a family house with his parents and we suspect that they might be aware that he is dealing in illicit substances. We expect parents to know their children’s rooms and be concerned with seeing them keeping expensive goods,” Maphephu said.
