BA ISAGO University, a Towering Pioneer in the Development of Niche Programmes

-

As a Comprehensive Entrepreneurial Private University, BA ISAGO is the first and demonstrably a towering pioneer in developing and introducing a highly innovative and creative curriculum, which has remarkably responded so well to the new dynamics, dictates, imperatives and expectations of the 21st Century Economy. In almost 20 years of programme development, the University’s seasoned Academics and Consulting Industry Practitioners have gained immense and unprecedented expertise as well as experience in developing a robust curriculum that offers new avenues, prospects and opportunities in the labour market and the economy. The University’s Annual Graduate Tracer Study Surveys speak volumes about its market-driven programmes and the corresponding market readiness of its graduates, who are distinctly spread out through the entire spectrum of the economy.

BA ISAGO has developed over 80 qualifications and learning programmes to date, of which four were developed in partnership with the National University of Science and Technology (Bulawayo), the second largest public University in Zimbabwe.

Undoubtedly, BA ISAGO is noted to be the only institution in Botswana to date, which has developed programmes such as BSc in Quantity Surveying, BCom Real Estate, BCom Banking and Finance, BCom Investment Management, BCom Transport Management and Logistics, BCom Risk Management and Insurance, BA Law and Public Administration, and Para-legal Studies, which in their early years launched almost all the graduates into the labour market - a befitting testimony to the currency and relevance of the programmes. BA ISAGO’s proven creative and innovative Entrepreneurial prowess, is manifested in the unequivocal endorsement and broad acceptability, not only by the Labour Market, but broadly by many other institutions in the Sector, both public and private, who are today offering academic and professional programmes originally developed by BA ISAGO. This was all made possible by the Botswana Qualifications Authority’s (BQA) National Credit and Qualifications Framework System (NCQF) which allows any institution access to qualifications originally developed by other Universities, such as BA ISAGO. The legitimacy and fairness of the latter dispensation has been strongly contested by some Institutions which have not only led in such initiatives, but have heavily invested over the years in the development of new qualifications.

Invariably, BA ISAGO takes pride in its innovative and creative milestones that have hugely impacted Human Capital Development to date, very much to the benefit of other Institutions which have adopted similar qualifications.

Since its inception, BA ISAGO University has continuously taken the lead in developing marketdriven programmes which have immensely contributed to human capital development in the country, evidently enhancing and sustaining the livelihoods of its alumni, as well as contributing impactfully to the broader economic and social growth of Botswana. BA ISAGO has undoubtedly become a trusted brand, tried and tested in almost two decades of its existence. It continues to earn its stripes, public confidence and an increasingly growing reputation of note, in the country and the SADC Region, while remaining committed to its mission of Empowering Progress through Knowledge.

To date, the BA ISAGO Alumni stands at 17 000 plus. Testimonies from two interviewed members of the Alumni, tell the BA ISAGO story remarkably. The Founder and Managing Director of Morox Properties - Botswana, Mr Kagiso Morokotsi, a BCom in Real Estate Graduate, is one of the many BA ISAGO graduates whom BA ISAGO has developed to become Entrepreneurs. A successful entrepreneur in his own right, Mr Morokotsi proudly declares that “the sound and rigorous academic grounding he received at BA ISAGO, prepared him so well, hence his ability to set up and grow a thriving Real Estate Company.” Another Alumnus who benefited from the BA ISAGO – NUST collaborative partnership, Ms Bonolo Ramoshibidu, who studied for a BCom Honours in Risk Management and Insurance, proudly recommends BA ISAGO for what she calls “the best service delivery and relevance of programmes”, and she further states that “it was always refreshing to be in the midst of a soothing aroma of the BA ISAGO top-notch and beautifully manicured gardens after a long day of back-to-back lessons.”

BA ISAGO remains resolutely committed to contributing meaningfully and in a qualitative manner, to Human Capital Development in Botswana, Regionally and Globally. Its mission is very much in tandem with the national goals of creating a knowledge-based economy, especially given the University’s re-aligned strategic focus and orientation on Post Graduate Programmes and increasingly growing a robust research profile.
