Reka O Win’e launches in style

- Goitsemodimo Kaelo Staff Writer

Marothodi Bar in Broadhurst was a haven for fun and entertainment on Saturday as local brewer Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) kick-started its “Reka O Win’e” activation.

The activation, which was graced by the brewer’s newly appointed managing director, Carlos Bernitt is part of KBL’s move geared towards rewarding loyal guzzlers.

The competition will see participants compete to win a share of weekly grocery or electricity vouchers as well as enter into the main grand draw to win a VW Polo Vivo Trendlines.

While the place is normally chilled, there was vibrancy all around as local entertainer cum MC Theo Botshelo Bome, popularly known as Hey Nyeenaah, sparked it to life.

The event started on a rather dull manner for a promotion of a kind on a sunny Saturday. But as always, things changed in an instant when the pint-sized hype man took on the microphone. It appeared to be exactly what the doctor had prescribed as he became a hit with the crowd. The show immediately kicked on and came to life.

Hey Nyeenaah’s fun games, which were interactive, kept the place abuzz as people strived to take part in the games and win some goodies.

While he will engage people by asking questions about the competition, he introduced competitions such as dancing and rope skipping or koi in vernacular, which is a common traditional game in Botswana among children.

The fun competitions involved both men and women, but koi appeared the most popular as the crowd gathered to watch participants ‘do their thing’.

On the decks, Aobakwe Emmanuael Mooki otherwise known as DJ Bunny kept the crowd entertained throughout. He literally played for the crowd as he did not stick to just a certain type of music as DJs would normally do during their sets at certain events. He really showed his versatility and experience of playing at bars.

During the activation, Bernitt said the activation is part of their plan to award their customers with the biggest promotion.

To join the competition, customers can buy any two of the participating brands; that is St Louis Lager 750ml and 500ml, Carling Black Label 750ml, Redds Vodka Lemon 660ml, Castle Lite 660ml and fill in the form.
