Police probe Moko cattle post death

-

Investigations are underway after a Zimbabwean man was found dead and decomposed in the bush at Moko cattle post on the outskirts of Kalamare village on Saturday.

Police have revealed that they received a report from the deceased’s boss who had visited his cattle post over the weekend and did not find him. They suspect that the incident might have occurred during the week because his body was already decomposed.

Confirming to be investigating the matter, No. 16 District Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Officer, detective assistant Superintendent Iponeng Sejeso said even though they do not have detailed particulars of the deceased who was working as a herder he might be around 32 years old.

“The deceased who was last seen on Monday was popularly known as ‘Shepherd’ in Moko cattle post. His boss who resides in Mogoditshane said he has been trying to contact him over the phone to no avail since Monday and visited him over the weekend but could not find him at home.

When returning on Saturday he (the deceased’s boss) received a phone call alerting him of someone who was found lying lifeless in the bush that looked like him. Then, he returned and reported the matter to the police,” he said.

Sejeso further stated that they are currently waiting for pathology tests to verify the deceased’s cause of death because they had found his body already decomposed.

Furthermore, the senior officer said through the preliminary investigations they established that before the deceased’s disappearance he was alleged to have had a misunderstanding with another resident even though they cannot link that disagreement to his death as yet.

Sejeso said they are currently investigating the death.
