Another Engineering Forum successfully held
The recent Engineering Forum has been hailed as a platform that addressed issues of innovation and creativity in the delivery of engineering services and projects in the country.
The three-day event, which was held under the theme “Fostering Innovation and Creativity through effective partnerships-key to sustainable service delivery,” served as a platform to share experiences, lessons, and good practices in the engineering industry.
Over 500 participants attended this year’s forum.
Engineers’ registration Board (ERB) Project Manager Engineer, Clare Mosarwa, said the forum had attracted players in the built environment, local and international engineering experts, policy makers, procuring entities and consumers of engineering services.
“It also provided an opportunity for dialogue on key topics that are of interest to the engineering community and other stakeholders,” she said.
Equally, it explored the impact of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, as well as mobilise discussions on engineering innovation and creativity to contribute to the national agenda of innovation and sustainability.
Mosarwa emphasised the importance of the forum as it provided a platform for engineering discussions that brought together stakeholders in the built environment, policy makers, procuring entities, and consumers of engineering services. On the other hand, the forum addressed issues of national concern, such as innovation and creativity in the delivery of engineering services and projects, and highlighted the role of the engineering society in achieving sustainable development.
It also created effective partnerships among key stakeholders and provide opportunities for capacity development and competence building for engineering graduates.
“We facilitated dialogue on key topics of interest to the engineering community and seek practical innovative and creative solutions to positively impact the economy.
“Additionally, the seminar aimed to reinstate the credibility and integrity of engineering in Botswana,” she added. Mosarwa stated that they will continue to hold the Engineering Week as it is a vital event that celebrates the achievements of engineering professionals and fosters innovation and creativity in the industry.
It serves as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge sharing, ultimately contributing to the advancement of engineering practices and the sustainable development of our society and economy.
Even though ERB has had some challenges since its launch, Mosarwa said their footprint has increased. They have also improved value proposition to their stakeholders and have improved contribution to the national agenda.
