Miss Philanthropy Africa honours sponsors
Miss Philanthropy Africa 2024, Antoinette Letsholo, the reigning beauty queen known for her dedication to charitable causes, recently held a special event to express her gratitude towards her sponsors and Batswana for their unwavering support throughout her journey.
In his welcome remarks, Kgosi Simon Semele thanked Letsholo for a job well done. Kgosi Semele urged men to support women in such endeavours to eliminate social problems, promote equality and thus shape a better future for all.
Kgosi Semele said philanthropy has the power to influence lasting social change and that it could be looked at it as a cornerstone of a stable society and as such much support should be given to the reigning queen. He encouraged the community to support Letsholo.
Speaking during the celebration at Oodi, Letsholo said the desire to promote the welfare of others had always been enacted in her as she had been donating to the less privileged children in her community.
She said she joined the competition so that she may be able to lure the business community to help out and advocate for orphans and vulnerable children in different communities.
She encouraged people to embrace the desire to promote others by donating money to good causes to close the disparity gap between the rich and the poor.
Letsholo, however, said her P10 shop situated in Oodi, a tuck shop which sell goods for not more than P10 with the proceeds solely for donation to the vulnerable children and donating to charitable organisations, had helped her to also adopt three children.
“The primary concern of my shop is not about profit making but how much it can contribute to charity and the overall involvement in activities that are meant to uplift other people,” she said.
Letsholo, also a direct sales agent at Letshego Financial Services, encouraged Batswana to adopt the mindset change and embrace the spirit of compassion.
“I am truly grateful to all of my sponsors who have supported me on this incredible journey,” she said. “Their contributions have allowed me to continue my work in promoting philanthropy and giving back to those in need.”
In addition to recognising her sponsors, Miss Philanthropy Africa also took the opportunity to express her appreciation to the people of Botswana for their unwavering support. Since being crowned as Miss Philanthropy Africa, she has travelled across the c o u n - try, spreading awareness about important social issues and inspiring others to get involved in charitable activities. “I am so proud to have represented Botswana on the international stage,” she said. “The love and support I have received from the people of this country has been truly overwhelming. I am grateful for the opportunity to use my platform to make a difference in the lives of others.”
Throughout the event, guests were treated to a showcase of Miss Philanthropy Africa’s work with various charitable organisations.
Attendees had the opportunity to learn more about the causes she is passionate about and how they can get involved in making a difference in their communities.
Letsholo reflected on her journey so far and expressed her excitement for the future. She emphasised the importance of giving back and encouraged others to join her in making a positive impact in the world.
