LOCAL ROOKIE DJ DROPS AMAPIANO HIT SINGLE

Amapiano album dubbed ‘Believer’ scheduled to drop end of March

LOCAL up and coming Deejay (DJ) Goitseone Tshenyego, 24, has dropped a soothing Amapiano tune dubbed, ‘Baby Mama’ featuring a local vocalist, Jde Superstar.

The single, which was dropped last week Friday, is about relationships and heartbreaks that the artists have experienced in the journey of life.

MK 95, as Tshenyego is affectionately known by his legion of fans, told Voice Entertainment this week that his love for music dates back to his primary school days.

“It all started in 2008 when I was in standard 7. A few individuals such as Olefile Mooketsi, who is known as Blaq Dott, and the famous Calaboze music group in Kopong Village, introduced me to music. The passion that I have for music increased immensely over the years and that is when I started producing my own songs and got to release more than 5 singles, which all flopped,” he said.

The Kopong-born lad was, however, not fazed by the difficulties and setbacks he suffered trying to breakthrough in local music circles.

“It was not simple but I did not despair. I kept my cool and continued to work hard until a local radio station, Yarona FM, offered me a Deejay slot on Sundays between 15:00 and 17:30 in June 2019. Listeners responded well to my show,” he said.

The newly released single will be followed by an album, MK 95 has said, adding that on March 29th he will drop an album named ‘Believer’ under the famous Amapiano genre, and see how local music lovers would respond to it.

Some of Tshenyego’s music career highlights include the Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMA’S) nomination under Best Dance Single category.

“It is a privilege to be a YAMAS nominee regardless of the postponement, not everyone can achieve that feat and I am proud of my growth as a musician,” he said.

Another highlight worth noting is the young lad’s moment on the spotlight when he performed at Massive Spring Hangout in Mahikeng, South Africa last year and got to share the stage with SA music legends.

MK 95 has also collaborated with many local artists such as Noello, Mzitho and Kedi Lezozo just to mention a few.

“I want to grow to greater heights and be booked internationally more. I want to follow the footsteps of my role model, De Moghul, who is an Sa-based DJ,” he said.
