FASHIONING BRIGHT FUTURES
Three students from the Limkokwing University of Creative Technology in Gaborone spent a whirlwind week in Cape Town, South Africa after winning an exclusive design competition sponsored by global fashion & lifestyle retailer, TFG.
The students submitted their best futuristic men’s fashion designs and the top three were invited to attend the globally acclaimed Design Indaba in Cape Town.
The dynamic design duo, Alice and Theresa Jonas, as well as Amantle Fidzani, an up and coming designer, were selected based on their fresh, trendy and forward-looking designs.
“There’s so much talent in Botswana and we wanted to play our part in supporting it. All of the students delivered excellent work but the three selected truly embodied creativity and inspirational design,” said Imtiaaz Sawant, Group Marketing Manager at TFG. The students spent the week visiting popular tourist sites in the design capital of South Africa and three days attending the Design Indaba conference and exhibition.
On their return to campus, they will be sharing their experience with the rest of the Fashion Design students.
“This has been a life-changing experience! We’ve experienced our first aeroplane ride, our first trip to the ocean but the highlight was definitely the Design Indaba. It was amazing to see how people have made a difference through fashion and design and predict the future of fashion. We’re so grateful to TFG for this opportunity and look forward to pushing our fashion boundaries,” said Alice Jonas.
