MAN ALLEGEDLY KILLS AND BURNS LOVER

- BY PORTIA MLILO

MURDER accused, Emmanuel Khumosera, was this week denied bail and sent back to jail to await trial.

The 35-year-old taxi driver is suspected to have murdered his girlfriend, Susan Sentime, and burnt her body near Jwaneng town.

Confirming the incident, Jwaneng Station Commander, Superintendent Thuso Basuti, said Khumosera was arrested and charged after his report of the fire incident at the police station did not add up.

“On Saturday night, police received a report that there was an accident and a car was burning at Kaduwe Lands.

“We rushed there and found that the car was completely gutted. On the passenger seat, there was a charred body of a woman who was burnt beyond recognition. A man appeared on the scene and explained that he was the driver of the car and that it had a mechanical fault and caught fire. He said he managed to escape while the woman was trapped inside. We became suspicious because the car was parked near the road and there would have been ample time for both passengers to escape if the car had caught fire accidentally,” said Superintendent Basuti.

INCIDENT

Khumosera allegedly killed and burnt his 33-year-old girlfriend in his Honda Fit on Saturday at Kaduwe Lands near Jwaneng. The incident is said to have occurred at around 9pm.

Allegations are that Khumosera has a history of violence as he previously broke his baby mama’s jaw with a softball bat and landed her in hospital.

After recovery, she withdrew grievous bodily harm charges that she had laid against Khumosera.

On that fateful day, he said he had borrowed a jerrycan from his friends to buy fuel for his car, which he claimed had run out petrol at the lands. The jerrycan and a box of matches were found not far from the scene. He was also burnt on the hand.

The accused person was remanded in custody until his next date of mention on July 14th.
