“Why farm?”
Global food and nutrition security is bigger than a one man fight and after attending his first Thought for Food Global Summit, Alpha Sennon has the solution we need to feed 9 billion people by 2050. We are in the year 2017 with the average age of farmers being 60, by the year 2050 they would be 93 and most deceased.
However, Sennon thought that if we shift the paradigm to a different group the problem can be averted. Therefore it is the 5 and 10 year olds who are the ones to feed us by the year 2050. So how then do we instill agriculture in the minds of these children? Sennon finds the solution in creatively engaging youth. Starting with a main character who is branded as the world’s most powerful food provider: AGRiman.
In less than one year, young people worldwide saw AGRIMAN as a solution to their problems of youth engagement in agriculture. After launching in six countries, in the space of one year, Sennon and his team reached over 18,000 people and AGRIMAN has touched lives of over 3,500 students. His talk chronicles the creation of the world-hungerfighting agro-superhero, Agriman.it shares the story of a boy, his region and it’s people, on a mission to answer the question, “Why farm?”
