GHODRATI FOUNDATION LAUNCHES A SPORTS SCHOLARSHIP

- BY PORTIA MLILO

THE Ghodrati Foundation has launched a Sports Scholarship for young Batswana athletes who have demonstrated their sporting excellence through outstanding performances.

The two recipients of the Scholarship, Thuto Masasa and Karabo Mothibi, are part of the Botswana 4x100 relay team which will represent the country at the World Athletics Relay Championships in Poland. The Foundation offers partial scholarships to deserving Batswana to enrol at New Era College of Arts, Science and Technology for them to be able to pursue a career in Engineering or other disciplines offered by the College.

According to New Era Senior Communications Officer, Kgosi Moremong, the foundation is looking at improving the socio-economic conditions of the lives of Batswana through offering them access to high quality education. He said this was a response to government’s plea for organisations to come up with cost-sharing initiatives that will spread the heavy burden of education financing.

“We offer these athletes a safe and secure environment for them to develop their talents as well as gain a qualification that will serve as an option for an alternative career after sport. These young athletes are currently enrolled under the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Business Management. The Foundation wishes to congratulate these young men on their amazing achievement and calls on the whole nation to get behind our relay teams so they can bring home gold medals,” said Moremong.
