WOMAN STABS BOYFRIEND WITH A KNIFE
A 30-year-old woman of Mohakamme ward in Tonota village is under arrest for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend with a knife on Sunday.
The 35-year-old boyfriend is currently fighting for his life at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital.
The incident occurred at around 5am at Mohakamme ward where the woman was cohabiting with her boyfriend.
Tonota Station Commander, Superintendent Oteng Ngada, confirmed the incident to The Voice.
“The victim was staying with his lover at her parents’ home. Although we do not know what transpired yet as we have not collected the statement from the victim because of his condition, the woman has indicated that they had had some misunderstanding that caused her to stab him.
“We have not yet established the weapon used to commit the offence, for now, we suspect she used a sharp object,” Superintendent Ngada revealed.
After the stabbing incident,
the man phoned his parents, who came to take him to the hospital.
The suspect, who is currently under police custody, will be arraigned before Francistown Magistrates’ Court where a single charge of unlawful wounding will be read to her.
Ngada indicated that GBV cases were worrisome in his
jurisdiction. “Most of these cases lead to fatalities. People should learn to engage each other to solve their problems or engage parents, social workers and church leaders to help them with their problems.
“We are not going to allow victims to withdraw cases anymore in order to send a strong message to those who commit such offences,” said Ngada.
