Benni Mccarthy in Manchester United’s area

- BY TSHEPO KEHIMILE

Just like the famous 1998 TKZEE song inspired by the football star, indeed Benni is in the area, well, The Reds’ 18 area that is. Former Bafana Bafana striker, Benni Mccarthy, joined England’s Manchester United as part of the coaching staff for the

team’s strikers. Mccarthy made his first appearance this Sunday for the team’s final pre-season game at Old Trafford.

And while it was the return of CR7 that stole headlines internationally, at home it was all praises for the former Bafana Bafana star. “Manure manager believes Benni’s appointment will help sharpen up their team’s attack, sadly he won’t. Welcome to Hell Benni, welcome to the Theatre of Nightmares Mccarthy!” remarked one user with a different view.

“It is unfortunate that he refuses to coach South African teams,’ said another user.

PROVING dynamite really does come in small packages, 22-year-old Lylah Lee is a young artist with big dreams.

Released last week, the sultry Serowe-born artist’s latest single suggests she has the firepower to make it to the very top.

When did your passion for music develop?

I always had a thing for music growing up but only discovered the other side of music, which is not only for enjoyment but can be used to communicate, in 2020.

What music genre does your work fall under?

I am not going to limit myself to one genre as I am still building my career. I have already tried Motswako, Electro and Soul, and they have been going well thus far.

What have you released so far?

I have only two singles titled ‘Pelo’, which was dropped in 2021, and ‘Moyagoleele’, released on 29th July, 2022; it is making waves already as so many people are asking about it. I am so excited and I will continue working hard to achieve my goal, which is to produce many hit songs.

What setbacks have you encountered in your short career to date?

Music is fun but expensive, more especially when you are a rookie in the industry still trying to build a fan base. You have to have a big heart and remain composed.

Are you wary of competition?

I am wary of competition but I trust my talent as I believe it can take me to greater heights.

Are you working on any new projects? Who would you love to work with in the future?

I am still drafting my EP, which I want to drop soon. I wish to share a microphone with ATI one day.

Where do you see yourself in the next two to three years?

I really do not know where I will be but I have hope that with time my craft will go places. God’s timing, they say!

Three things people don’t know about you?

1. I am a quiet person 2. I have a good heart 3. I am tiny as most people know through social media
