GOVERNMENT TO SUBSIDISE FARMERS
Following the decision to declare the 2021/22 a moderate drought year, the government has come up with relief measures, action and assistance to cushion farmers throughout the country.
As a result, government will pay 30 percent of the seasonal loans to farmers who obtained loans through Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA) and National Development Bank (NDB) through the Agricultural Credit Guarantee Scheme (ACGS) to supplement crop failure. Further, government will provide a 15 percent livestock feed subsidy for roughage, mineral supplements and botulism vaccine to farmers effective from August until 31st January, 2023.
