SOCIAL MEDIA ROUND UP
FROM exposing Facebook predators to prisoners dying, social media commentary has been galore this week as keyboard warriors had plenty of content to ruminate on.
We sum up three interesting topics that dominated our timelines in this week’s Social Media Round-up.
FACEBOOK USER EXPOSES PREDATORY MEN
A Facebook user (names known to this publication) this week exposed all the lustful men drooling over her in her private inboxes.
The post, which took social media users by storm, exposed over 300 men who had in-boxed her after she posted a sleazy picture of herself. Social media commentary was divided over her exposé with some calling her out for outing them. “Those exposed men should go for counselling.” “Imagine going through the names and boom, your father is in the mix.” The user has since deleted her post but the damage has been done, people have been exposed.
BPS’ AMBIGUOUS COMMUNICATION This week, Botswana Prison Service (BPS) announced that a prisoner had died in their custody.
In the press statement, the prison services say that the prisoner died after attacking a prison warder. “This statement is problematic, a prisoner attacks an officer-then dies? It should say what happened to the prisoner. Otherwise the statement should have not stated what the
prisoner did, maybe simply say we confirm a prisoner has died in our custody and investigation are ongoing. As it stands it is opening speculation as to the prisoner having died from retaliation after stabbing an officer.” Another user said “Gase Lovemore akere?” “Even math paper 3 wasn’t this difficult.” This comes as a reminder to government departments to take their communications department seriously and hire the right people who will clear
ly communicate the message. MANCHESTER UNITED IS BOTTOM OF THE LEAGUE
Once the bright stars of English football, things keep going from bad to worse for Manchester United Football Club after suffering two defeats in their opening games.
The Red Devils are now bottom of the league instead of the first half as per the norm. Social media went in hard for the starstudded side, which has among its team members Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo was last week nominated for Ballon’ Dior. “Man United players should be ashamed to receive their next pay cheque which they did not earn.”another user posted, “Fans wanted to leave but were forced to stay to witness the humiliation until the final whistle, pathetic and pity them.”
Lady luck is seemingly not on the side of the Red Devils as they face Liverpool this coming Monday.
