SEFALANA OPENS 19TH LIQUOR STORE

-

In its efforts to keep the good times rolling and make the shopping experience as convenient as possible for their customers, Sefalana has opened its 19th standalone liquor outlet.

Located in Gaborone’s Block 5 location, the latest addition to the retailer’s empire officially opened its doors on Wednesday, 24 August 2022.

Speaking at the grand opening, Sefalana Group Managing Director, Chandra Chauhan said this was just the beginning, with the company poised to open several more liquor stores in the coming months.

“We have an appetite to penetrate the retail space in terms of liquor trading. We are known for selling alcohol at wholesale level and that on its own doesn’t allow our customers to buy in smaller quantities from our wholesale shops. By opening these retail liquor outlets, we are creating a platform for them where they can buy in smaller quantities. Two more outlets will be opened next month with one of those in Block 8,” in Gaborone, he said.

Chandra further revealed they aim to have at least 50 liquor stores in Botswana within the next two to three years. He also pointed out Sefalana’s expansion drive was good for locals.

“Our expansion is crucial but as much as we do that we make sure that locals also benefit financially. Almost all our Sefalana outlets buildings are not owned by us. Most of the landlords are Batswana and same applies to this new shop we are opening today. As much as we want to do well in business, we don’t want to leave Batswana behind,” stressed Chandra, whose company celebrates their 50th anniversary in 2024.

Areas at which Sefalana trades in liquor shops in include: Tlokweng, Mogoditshane, Nkoyaphiri, Charleshill, Maun and Ramotswa just to mention a few.
