SOCIAL MEDIA ROUND UP

- BY TUMISANG DALE RANKOPO

THIS week, we mix it up with politics, music, eccentric artists and a fallout between stars; all have one thing in common: they got people talking!

DOW CALLS FOR UNITY

In a leaked voice note circulating online,

Unity Dow has declared she is unshaken by any harassment she faces from fellow Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) members.

Dow plans on standing for the Deputy Secretary General position at the upcoming elective congress in Tsabong. In the audio, she calls out BDP leadership for allowing intimidation ahead of elections. Social media shared thoughts. “We saw the same thing happen to Mma Moitoi. It’s BDP culture,” was

one blunt assessment. There was plenty of social media support for Dow, with someone saying, “I salute Dow, it is good to stand for the truth. Cowards never achieve anything.”

A less sympathetic comment read, “They always cry the loudest when it happens to them but turn a blind eye when it happens to opposition leaders.”

Let’s hope for free and fair elections in Tsabong.
