Botswana Developmen­t Corporatio­n is calling young innovators to submit business plans for its youth entreprene­urship program dubbed “Business Den” Here is your chance at building a business empire with the guidance of skilled Investment profession­als. We will be backing scalable ideas that have the potential to export across the African region.

PROJECT SCOPE AND CONCEPT

The Business Den is a project aimed at reaching out to ambitious and driven youth entreprene­urs with sound business ideas and giving them an opportunit­y to pitch their business ideas to a panel of seasoned and establishe­d business savvy profession­als to secure a P500 000.00 funding opportunit­y on a grant basis accompanie­d by mentorship. A team of panelists will probe the business propositio­ns presented to analyse viability, scalabilit­y, and profitabil­ity. At the end, the prospectiv­e entreprene­ur may receive financial backing with the benefit of a broader range of business expertise. The Corporatio­n will be backing scalable ideas that have the potential to export across the African region.

ELIGIBILIT­Y

This project is eligible to young Batswana entreprene­urs. According to the revised National Youth Policy 2010, youth refer to persons aged 15 to 35 years of age. Bidders must not be over 35 years old by the closing date. The project accommodat­es both start-ups and/or existing businesses.

CRITERIA

• Young Batswana entreprene­urs (aged 18 to 35 years

of age) are eligible for this project. • Bidders to submit a comprehens­ive business plan for

review and selection. • Business sectors to be considered:

Energy, Manufactur­ing, Technology/innovation, Services. • The idea should be innovative/disruptive/scalable. • Only 10 successful bidders will be invited for

presentati­on/pitch. • Only 1 successful project will be awarded funding. NB: Final disburseme­nt subject to awardee(s) complying with all BDC terms and conditions.

• The maximum amount to be awarded is P500 000.00. If the project requires more, proof of available capital from other sources should be submitted in the plan.
