Pastor in rape charge over ‘sexual healing’
Claiming to be acting on the instruction of a higher power, a Zimbabwean pastor is accused of inserting his erect penis into a teenager’s vagina in order to chase away an evil spirit that was tormenting her.
The suspect, 28-year-old Mbekezele Ncube, a religious healer at Johane Masowe Church in Tati Siding, was arraigned before Francistown Magistrates’ Court where he was charged with rape.
He is said to have violated the 19-year-old Borolong-based complainant on 4th September, inviting her to come to Tati Siding so he could banish the ‘spiritual husband’ haunting her.
The young woman duly travelled to the village, where she was reportedly met by Ncube and another man.
The trio then drove into the bush, before Ncube and the teen alighted the vehicle to perform the ‘exorcism’, leaving the other man in the car.
According to a source, when alone, the pastor ordered the woman to remove her clothes and lie on the ground while holding three stones he had given her.
“We hear he applied oil all over her body and then his manhood, which started to harden as he applied the oil. He then inserted his penis into the woman more than once and, feeling ill at ease, she pushed him away.
“They then drove back into town. The woman returned to her house in Borolong where she told her parents what had happened and the matter was reported,” the source told The Voice.
The pastor was arrested the same day and hauled before court 24 hours later.
He was denied bail after the Prosecutor, Jacob Handly, noted investigations were still extremely fresh.
“We are still to collect statements from the possible witnesses. We are also to send some DNA samples to the forensic laboratory for analysis,” Handly explained.
Ncube is due back in court this Tuesday (27th September).
