Letlhakeng police are investigating a fatal road accident in which a pensioner’s life came to a painful end after she fell from a tractor trailer and died last Tuesday.

The 67-year-old woman from Kgosing ward in Ngware village is believed to have died on the spot having sustained serious head injuries from the fall.

According to Letlhakeng Police Assistant, Superintendent Lekopanye Molwantwa, the fatal accident was reported to them the same day in the afternoon.

“We are investigating the incident. The tractor driver allegedly saw the woman at Suthas lands along Diphuduhudu/ngware and gave her a ride. Unfortunately, on the way, the woman fell off the tractor and was run over,” explained the top cop.

It is alleged that before the freak accident occurred, the 45-year-old driver was slowing down in order to stop to buy a cigarette but before the tractor could come to a complete halt, the woman tried to jump off from the trailer and unfortunately fell down and was run over by the trailer.

She was later taken to the hospital where she was certified dead.

Quizzed on whether there is any possible charge for the driver, ASP Molwantwa said it will depend on the investigations as the tractor also has to be taken for road test.
