COPS GRAB SUSPECTED HANDBAG SNATCHER
HAVING spent a week on the run while his co-accused languished behind bars, a suspected petty criminal’s luck ran out when he was nabbed by the boys in blue over the weekend.
23-year-old Thabo Samson was hauled before Francistown Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday after allegedly robbing a woman in Ditladi village, striking when she knocked off from work in the late evening.
Along with one Chedza Maphicholo, who was arrested soon after the robbery, Samson is said to have struck at around 2000hrs on Saturday 10th September.
The duo is believed to have assaulted the unsuspecting woman shortly after she finished her shift, forcibly taking two cellphones and cash amounting to P460 from her handbag.
Maphicholo was the first to be arrested and, during his arraignment last Friday, told court Sam
son was the mastermind behind the robbery. He was duly tracked down by the cops in Ditladi.
Securing his remand, the Prosecutor, Gasemotho Pitagano, told court investigations into the matter were ongoing.
“We plead that the accused be remanded in custody and appear on the 4th of October together with his alleged accomplice,” was Pitagano’s successful request.
