The Nando’s Botswana 2022 Grillers’ Challenge

Nando’s Botswana hosted its 9th Annual Grillers Challenge from the 7th-9th October, 2022. It was a rive ng challenge where 19 of the best Griller’s from Nando’s restaurants across the country went head to head un l a victor emerged, the Master Griller.

The last Grillers’ Challenge event held was in 2019 where Kabelo Modewa, hailing from Nando’s Kasane emerged victorious. Modewa went on to represent Nando’s Botswana in the Nando’s Interna onal Grillers’ Challenge held in Ireland.

Since 2012, 23 Countries including Malaysia, United States and Qatar have par cipated in this annual compe on, with different countries playing host to the world’s best men and women behind the Nando’s grill.

One of the most ama ing things about this compe on is that it offers par cipants the opportunity to travel interna onally and experience the world. Addi onally this event not only serves to reward the top griller in the country but, is one of the many ways in which con nuous quality assurance is executed.

This year media personali es and many from the Nando’s family crowned a new Champion, Mogolodi Rasuwe, who hails from the Palapye Riverview restaurant. Rasuwe has been hea ng up the grills since January 2022 and is o en described as “A quiet, yet strong willed individual who has the passion and fire to grill.” Ogorogile Sekwaipe, the 2018 Nando’s Grillers’ Challenge Runner up firmly believes that Rasuwe was the “perfect man to win the compe on, as he had a deep love and understanding of the art of grilling.” personally The 2022 leg of this year’s compe on, also saw a selec on of the Top 19 Finalists on through its deliver flamed-grilled PERI-PERI meals to the Ramotswa Centre for Deaf Educa on aimed at governing body, Botswana Society for the Deaf (BSD), a non-governmental organisa representa ve, advoca ng for the needs and welfare of the Deaf community in Botswana.
