NEW CROWN FOR MISS BOTSWANA
ADDING extra sparkle to this year’s Miss Botswana, whoever is crowned ‘the fairest in the land’ at Saturday’s grand finale will walk away with a brand new crown.
As well as the glittering, diamond-encrusted headpiece, there will be another gem on display as the reigning Miss World, Poland’s Karolina Bielaskwa, will attend the final set for Fairscape Precinct, by MO’S Open Table.
Briefing the media on the exciting updates on Tuesday, Miss Botswana Lead Organiser, Benjamin Raletsatsi, stressed the blonde bombshell’s presence
was a huge coup for the beauty pageant.
“This is a major achievement as part of our efforts to take the pageant to greater heights,” he declared.
Turning his attention to the dazzling new silverware, Raletsatsi said, “We have decided that you become a queen when you wear the crown hence the ultimate prize is the crown. We decided to collaborate with local entities such as La Calla and KGK Diamonds as we are a diamond-led economy to come up with this beautiful crown, which will be won this weekend.”
Meanwhile, promising there will be no repeat of the mishap that befell outgoing queen, Palesa Molefe, when a wardrobe malfunction meant she was forced to change outfits minutes before taking to the Miss World stage back in March, Miss Botswana Deputy General Manager, Brando Keabilwe, said, “We are a new team, and we have come up with measures to safeguard those misfortunes happening. What happened to Molefe during Miss World is uncalled for and it shows someone dropped the ball in the last lap and it will not be condoned. Additionally, we are going to ensure that our queen leaves with one of us to Miss World to ensure situations like Molefe’s never happen again as it is a disgrace to the country!”
Available at Webtickets, tickets for Saturday’s final, where the top ten will go head to head for the title, are priced at P550 standard or P1,200 VIP.
