HUNTING A KILLER

- BY CHRISTINAH MOTLHABANE

The cops in Siviya are on the hunt for a killer after a woman’s half-naked body was found dumped in a bushy part of the village on

Sunday afternoon.

The police suspect the 49-year-old, who was last seen at a local bar the previous evening, may have been raped before she was killed.

Briefly updating The Voice this week, Siviya Station Commander, Mothokomedi

Ponyane, revealed a villager stumbled upon the body at around midday while on her way to church.

“Our officers quickly rushed to the scene in Mabuzu ward, took the motionless body to Nyangabgwe Hospital, where she was certified dead,” said the

Assistant Superintendent, further disclosing the corpse was not in a good condition due to exposure to the sun .

“Women’s hairpieces were found at the scene and a cloth she was wearing on top was tied to her neck, with the other part covering her head; her upper torso was naked,” continued Ponyane, adding there was no blood visible at the crime scene or on the deceased.

He pleaded for members of the community, located some 40km north of Francistown, to come forward with any information that might help them catch the culprit(s).

Ponyane concluded by urging people, especially women, to move in groups at night whenever possible and not to go off with strangers.
