TRENDY HAIR!

Dare to be different

-

TRENDY African hair is on the rise this season as the beauty industry continues to modernise it with eclectic accessories. The essence of the look is all in the details.

However, there is more to these African hairdos than the obvious elaborate and attractive designs, styling and ornamentation.

Historically, hairdos like tribal braids date back to the early centuries where they used to unite black women in conversation and in tradition. They tied the African diaspora culture together and somewhat denoted class, social status, tribe and even wealth. Some of these hairstyles, such as cornrows or patterned cornrows, were used as a visual escape by slaves.

Fast-forward to the 21st century, more and more black women are in awe of African hair aesthetics. Whether we weave our hair, use hair extensions or resort to a wig, women are increasingly receptive to the idea of trying out different hairstyles.

With over 18 years experience in the industry, a creative hair stylist with a flair for the exceptional, Poxie Happy continues to gear up clients to showcase her skills.
