TWO CHILDREN MISSING IN SERONGA

- BY CATHERINE MOEMEDI

Police in Seronga are appealing to the public to assist in searching for two children who went missing on November 26th.

The children, aged 6 and 8 years, left home with two other children on Saturday afternoon to go hunting. However, the other two children aged 13 and 15 returned home on Sunday without the others.

Speaking to Okavango Voice, Officer Commanding for Shakawe Policing Area, Victor Nlebesi, said it appears the children parted ways in the bush while searching for small animals to hunt and never found their way to each other.

“The two boys, who are still missing, are siblings. We were told that they left home to go hunting and never returned home,” said Nlebesi.

According to Nlebesi, a search party of both the police and members of the community has been dispatched to look for the children. “We have also engaged our helicopter but we have not found them yet,” said Nlebesi.

“It is possible for them to end up in one of the farms while wandering in the bush trying to find their way home. We plead with anyone who sees the children to get in contact with the police,” he said.

In conclusion, Nlebesi urged parents to take extra care of their children and deter them from wandering in the bush since it is easy to get lost in the thick bushes, especially now that the rainy season is here.
