SATANISM OR JUST A PRANK?

Maun SSS students claim mysterious attacks and fainting at school

- BY FRANCINAH BAAITSE

Learners at Maun Senior Secondary School are said to be studying in distress following allegations of a mysterious disease at the school that causes students to vomit and lose consciousness.

With the school having had a history of satanic attacks almost a decade ago, where students confessed to be involved in evil deeds and association with spirits of darkness, students, especially those in boarding, are said to often feel unwell and complain of headaches before collapsing.

“It is so insane and I think the school needs to be cleansed. Prayers are needed,” said one of the teachers who preferred anonymity.

However, another teacher said although sometimes students feel unwell, it is nothing that can cause concern. “It is just the normal ailments common among children. If a learner is unwell, we seek medical attention, if they don’t recover for two or three days, we call the parents to take them home.”

The teacher was referring to allegations that parents are threatening to take their children off boarding school if nothing is done about the situation.

“This thing became worse after the arrival of Form Four students. It could be that other students are playing pranks on others just to scare them,” noted the teacher.

Meanwhile, North West Regional Education office has only confirmed two cases of students who recently lost consciousness but dismissed allegations of Satanism as possible cause.

“We confirm two cases reported at the school, of students who had lost consciousness for some time. At this juncture, we cannot link that status to the subject matter above,” explained Deputy Director in the regional office, Kegodile Mahudinga.

He further suggested that the two students were attended to by medics and reported to have recuperated to good health and currently attending to their studies without any problem.

Asked what had caused them to faint, Mahudinga only said, “Medical records for individuals are deemed confidential therefore we would not be at liberty to reveal such even if we were in hold of those records.”
