-

In keeping with their efforts to make Botswana a better place for all, Sefalana Cash and Carry and its Banner Group Stores donated 10 wheelchairs to the National Disability Coordinating Office in the Office of President (OP).

The gesture, worth P25, 000, forms part of the Banner Group Stores and Sefalana’s annual donation drive. Speaking at the handover ceremony last Thursday, 30 March 2023, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for State President, Goitsemang Morekisi, commended the private sector for collaborating with

government to address issues affecting the disabled. “The donation of the assistive devices plays a very important role in the lives of people with disabilities. These devices aid individual’s functionality, promote independence and enable participation to perform a task that would otherwise be difficult or impossible,” highlighted Morekisi, who urged more companies to follow the example set by Sefalana and its Banner Group Stores. For her part, Banner Group South Deputy Chairperson, Naledi Tsimanyane, explained that the donation forms part of their

Corporate Social Responsibility, where they have committed to assist less privileged members of the society & people living with disabilities. Already this year, Sefalana and Banner Group Members have donated shelters to Oodi-matebele clinic and Young Women/men Christian Association (YWMCA) in Moshupa. Banner Group Stores consist of independently owned retailers with strong business ties to Sefalana; these include Pula Value, Citi Saver, Supa Deal, Supa 7 and Save Way.
