Sefalana liquor store and chicken outlet open in Mogoditshane
Sefalana’s robust expansion in the local market has continued with the opening of a new Sefalana Liquor Store and Wings and Things Chicken outlet in Mogoditshane, Block 2.
Since last year, the second largest food retailer in Botswana has been experiencing steadfast growth on the local market opening liquor stores in order to provide their customers with the convenience to buy alcohol in smaller quantities. As a result, the new outlet brings the number of stand-alone Sefalana Liquor stores to 23 countrywide. Speaking at Wednesday’s grand opening, Sefalana Trading Managing Director Gerhard Scheepers urged the community to support the shops for growth and creation of more employment opportunities. “It is an honour to add these businesses to our operations because the most important thing is employment creation. We managed to employ 22 Batswana in these two shops and that is the purpose of our businesses. Support these entities for their sustainability such that they keep on growing. Through that we can employ more people,” said Scheepers. Meanwhile customers will not only enjoy the convenience of having access to a liquor store but will be able to satisfy their taste for fast food at the Sefalana 23rd Wings and Things Chicken Outlet which is the first stand-alone store. The other 22 Wings and Things Chicken outlets are available in Sefalana Shopper supermarkets around the country as service departments inside the stores, therefore this stand-alone outlet is a major milestone in the growth of the brand. “Wherever there is an opportunity and a market which warrants that there can be a stand alone of Sefalana Wings and Things Chicken outlet, we will do it. One of the things you must understand is that it must be able to sustain itself in terms of profitability and serve the community it operates in. Here in Mogoditshane block 2, we realized that there are no takeaways and a decision was taken to open our first stand-alone outlet. Remember Sefalana is a Botswana brand so it should benefit Batswana,” said Sefalana Franchise & Marketing Executive, Reggie Klinck.
