FIGHTING GRIME

Bringing cleaning services to your doorstep

- BY BAITSHEPI SEKGWENG

A self-confessed clean freak and hater of dirt, Pula signs flashed before Kabelo Ditshekiso’s eyes when he realised there were countless others who shared his love

for cleanly living.

The 38-year-old grime fighter set up Door To Door Cleaning Services in 2015, making offices and homes in the south of Botswana cleaner and more comfortable ever since.

As the name suggests, the business offers door-to-door cleaning services, specialising in sofas, windows, car interiors, bed mattresses and loose or fitted carpets.

Ditshekiso’s potential clients include government departments with fitted carpets, lodges, shops, offices and residential houses.

“We always strive to meet the needs of our clients. The future looks great for the company because cleanliness is a life-long thing which is required on daily basis. These days, businesses operate under set standards, which most of the time require our services even more than before,” he tells Voice Money, noting that convenience plays a big part in the company’s appeal.

With offices in his hometown of Molepolole and another in Mogoditshane Block 5, the company operates in and around the capital, with a reach that stretches across: Kanye, Ramotswa, Mochudi, Lobatse and Thamaga.

After a slow start, Ditshekiso is happy to report that his business is picking up in popularity.

“The interest of Batswana is rapidly growing in the services we offer. Initially, we were struggling to get tenders, maybe one or two tenders a week, but now we are called for jobs almost daily,” smiles Ditshekiso, who, prior to starting Door To Door Cleaning Services, worked as a cleaner at Modving Cleaning Services for two years.

The business owner and his four employees take great pride in offering a professional, reliable service at affordable prices.

“We never disappoint our clients and they end up recommending us to anyone requiring cleaning services.”

As well as having to fork out big bucks to cover petrol expenses and the cost of chemicals, Ditshekiso also has to put up with ‘tricky customers’ desperate to save a few Thebes.

“Sometimes we make agreements through the phone and, when we get to the place, the client now wants to dictate prices to us,” he laments.

Despite this, Ditshekiso has a big vision for where he wants to take his business, and dreams of expanding beyond cleaning to tap into other areas such as clinical waste and domestic waste management.
