MARKETING MAESTRO
AT a young age of 33, Malebogo Bahakgametse has already made her mark in the corporate sector. From humble beginnings, she has managed to climb the ladder to get to the top of the marketing department at Peermont Group Botswana.
A seasoned promotions and marketing manager who wields a wealth of experience gathered in various industries, Bahakgametse has a notable track record in the gaming and hospitality sector. She joined the Peermont Group Botswana almost ten years ago as a promotions coordinator for The Grand Palm Resort in 2015. Since then, she has never looked back as she seeks to reach for even greater heights.
Who is Malebogo?
I’m a youthful lady from Kalamare and I am currently the marketing manager for Peermont Group Botswana. Peermont owns Grand Palm Resort, Mondior Hotel, Metcourt Lodge and Sedibeng Casino. Those are Peermont properties and I am responsible for the marketing department. I’m a University of Botswana graduate with a Bachelors Degree in Marketing.
Briefly, what does your role entail?
It entails a lot because our product is diverse since we are an all-rounder when it comes to hospitality. Most people know us for the iconic product which is Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC), hotels and our casino, which is number one in the country. So, my role is to place emphasis on these products, and to get people to know and appreciate our brand. My scope stretches to creating a marketing strategy for all these properties.
How did you end up with Peermont Group Botswana?
I was fortunate enough to land a job in a promotions company right after graduation and later went into a tech and power backup company during my early days. I joined Peermont in 2015 at a very tender age. I was recruited as a promotions coordinator so it was a fortunate thing for me to get a management job at that age, which means the company really saw value in me. I had my marketing background to help me navigate the casino. I have been fortunate enough because, through my tenure here in three years, I got promoted to the position of marketing manager casino. In 2018, I was voted the overall departmental top achiever in the entire group since we have other units in South Africa - so I was the top marketer for the entire group. In 2021, I was promoted to the current role as the marketing manager for Peermont Group Botswana. So, I really did hit the ground running with my experience from the industries I worked in before and my academic qualifications.
