Clube Literário e Recreativo de Bragança Paulista

Fundado em 1894, o Clube Literário ocupa o palacete no Largo da Matriz. Esse magnífico local é um testemunho admirável da época áurea dos Barões do Café e da elite bragantina. Desde seus primórdios, o Clube ajudou na educação, na recreação e no desenvolvimento cultural da cidade. Para se ter uma ideia, em 1909 sua biblioteca já era frequentada por cerca de 4 mil pessoas por ano. Assim que entramos em seu salão, nos sentimos transportados de volta ao século XIX. Em sua rica decoração, o passado segue preservado. Os famosos bailes, sempre concorridos, as festas de debutantes, os bailes de carnaval, todos os eventos sociais marcantes continuam ali vivos na memória bragantina.

Founded in 1894, the Literary Club is set in the manor house at the Mother Church Square. The splendid palace bears live witness to the golden times of the Coffee Barons and Bragança’s local elite. Since its very beginning, the Literary Club sponsored education and recreation activities, and cultural development. To give the readers an idea, in 1909 its library was already visited by at least four thousand people a year. As soon as one enters the large hall, it is like going back to the past. The rich decoration is a memory preservation device. Famous balls and cotillions for a large crowd, unforgettable Carnival parties, everything is recorded for ever for the citizens.
