FOLLOWING THE PIONEER DECENTRALIZED MANAGEMENT STRATEGY FOR BRAZILIAN PUBLIC HEALTH in the State of São Paulo, many other municipalities in our State also embrace the same model. By means of Public Health Social Organizations (OSSs), the sector was able to implement substantial improvement in crucial areas such as patients’ reception and referral, informatized data, transparent management and a kinder way of assisting people. [Brazilian Association of Community Charity]. Besides public health, the organization also provides services for social, educational and technology programs. Its Board of Directors is made up of several different professionals, such as medical doctors, surgeons, dentists, managers, educators, lawyers,
humanitarian approach, becoming closer to the citizens who check in for help at public health units, the system helps bridge a gap between local reality and the State reality, a problem that compromised medical basic units in the past. The new model also promotes a stronger connection between doctors and patients, the city and its citizens. Recent data from DATASUS show that 35% of hospitals managed by OSSs recorded higher patient discharge rates, rising to 85% (compared to previous 63,2%) the patients’ rotation. This means a larger number of treatments delivered, of available hospital beds, optimal use of resources and most importantly less mortality.
